When finding the answer to ‘how to increase my domain authority,’ I faced many failures at the beginning of my journey. I made hundreds of mistakes as well. Eventually, I understood I would need to plan it strategically rather than just play it unquestioningly.
I targeted increasing the DA of my website to 10 in the first month, then to 20 in the second month, and then to 25 in the third month. And after the end of the third month, I saw that I had achieved my target. The domain authority of my website was 26 on the 90th day. (Or, say, higher than planned :D)
I want to use the benefit with others. I decided to share with others what I was planning and the precautions I took on my journey if you wish to do the same.
How To Increase My Domain Authority?
Here are some steps you can take to increase your domain authority in just three months:
Target #1: Increase DA By 10 In The First Month
The journey was quite tricky, and I wondered whether I would be successful. But for sure, with my journey, you can understand what you shouldn’t do for your website. And also where you should focus the most.
Week #1
My website was actually about Digital Marketing and related stuff. So, I started by adding some organic content. After adding four blogs in the first six days, I began seeing visitors to my website. I kept in mind my blog length and structure as best possible. (Content length at least 2000 words)
Although they were just three to four days, I still saw growth. And on the seventh day of my first week, I started with Quora answering. I made a spreadsheet of each question that I answered with its rank. (#I prefer to answer at least 5–8 Quora answers daily.) The goal was to generate backlinks and get referral traffic from there.
Week #2
I knew my content was good; I could get traffic, but I could not get as many backlinks as possible for the second week.
I focused on blog commenting, and one should follow a few rules to avoid spamming your comment. Ever commented on getting a backlink, I kept my remarks natural.
The efforts were showing me the results. On the second day of the second week, I saw an increase in DA 2. I was lucky as one of the blogs I commented on added backlinks to my blog. It helped me in getting my first do-follow link.
I continued with my strategy for the whole week. Also, I added two more blog posts.
Week #3
This week was very fruitful for me. I planned the week earlier to begin with the guest posting. Since guest posts help a lot, especially if you want to increase the DA of your website. So, on the first day, I mailed three blog websites with authoritative DA to allow me to guest post on their website.
I added my blog idea and the structure I planned to write in the mail.
In the third week, I posted two blog posts and mailed 12 websites for guest blogging. Also, I did 50 Quora answers that week, which made my total Quora answer almost 100.
Week #4
Before beginning the fourth week, when I checked my DA, it was updated to 5. It must be because I have earned a lot of do-follow backlinks on my blogs. Also, Quora’s answers helped a lot in generating no-follow links.
I got replies from 10 guest posting requests for the last week of my month. They all agreed to it, so I planned to spend my whole week writing their guest post, blogging for my website, & Quora answering.
By the end of the week, I posted two blogs on my website, submitted all the guest posts, and did 50 more Quora answers. As for the result, I saw an increase in DA of 8 by the end of the month.
Conclusion Month #1
I couldn’t complete my goal as planned. However, I knew I could still push it to the next month.
Increase DA Lesson 1: Points You Can Learn From My First Month
- Do Quora answers regularly and maintain the sheet.
- Don’t be spammy while commenting on blogs.
- Remember to update content regularly on your website.
- While guest posting, remember to maintain good content quality.
- Domain Authority may jump up suddenly in a week. So, Be patient.
Target #2: Increase DA By 15 In The Second Month
I knew that I was able to achieve my target last month. So, for this month, I wanted to cover the previous month’s goal with this month’s as well.
The guest posts I have written are scheduled to be posted this month. They would greatly help me get my plan right on the path.
Week #1
This week, I started my approach differently. Rather than just posting web content, managing Quora answering, blog commenting, & guest posting, I also switched to social bookmarking websites.
I sorted out the top 5 SBM websites for it. The sorted-out websites were Ello, Reddit, Tumblr, Mix, & ScoopIt.
One thing I saw people doing while getting backlinks from these websites is using them just to get links.
I knew I wouldn’t get anything from them if I didn’t work strategically. So, I created an account on those websites, and rather than using them for social bookmarking, I was also using them as an active user.
Although, I bookmarked all of my links on those platforms. But I also made many posts and bookmarked them for other websites.
So, that week, the task performed was 50 Quora Answering, 10 Guest Posting Requests, 3 Blogs Added to my website, 14 Blog Commenting, & 5 SBM of my blogs on each website, excluding 20 other blogs on other websites.
Week #2
Creating a secure link-building and quality content base should be the focus when you start working on SEO. Once you start getting visibility, it gets easier to grow. You start getting more opportunities and ideas.
As I was working on Social Bookmarking, it started giving me more visibility on their platforms.
So, half the week passed, and I saw I was getting backlinks from other websites. It was strange for me as those websites were unknown. When I analyzed those backlinks, I found they were because many bloggers had paraphrased content from the sites where I posted guest posts. So, to keep the genuineness of the blog, they didn’t remove backlinks while paraphrasing.
It was quite a lesson.
After that, I started to work most of my time on creating quality content. By then, I had many connections, allowing me to guest post monthly on their website. The real benefit was that other bloggers often reposted those posts, making it easier for me to generate quality links.
My week was about Quora, Web Content, Guest Posting, and SBM.
I want to share one trick to help you generate links: Join Medium Publications. People often think links from Medium are all no-follow, so why work on it? However, suppose you publish your work in a popular publication. In that case, you can quickly generate backlinks, not from those publications directly, but from bloggers who often repost their blogs on their websites.
Week #3 & Week #4
I made a 15-day target to do pretty hard work creating quality content for my website. The goal was to post well on Medium Publications, Guest Posts, and Social Bookmarking Websites.
And on the other days, I worked on website blogs, SBM, etc. The division was to create five individual posts on each SBM platform with a link to the website’s relevant blog for two posts. For Medium, I targeted writing an 800–1000 word quality post daily for the different publications.
After the end of the week, the total was 5 Medium stories, 2 Blogs on the website, and 50 posts on each SBM website (250 Posts ~ 100 Links).
I saw a significant hike in my DA on the 10th day of that period. It jumped to 16 from 8 just like that in 10 days. I was aggressive in content generation, giving me pretty good results.
Conclusion Month #2
The initial link generation process is a bit difficult, but as time passes, more opportunities come my way to increase the DA of my website. One just needs to be hard-working, Patient, and strategic to succeed.
Increase DA Lesson 2: Points You Can Learn From My Second Month
- Don’t ever compromise on content for your blog.
- Even if you are writing for other publications on Medium, ensure the content quality is not negotiated. The blog quality signifies how many reposts you can get.
- Don’t’ over-depend on Quora. If you continuously post links on Quora, it may delete your answers. So, keep a few organic answers and backlinks to other sites to avoid spam.
- Keep monitoring your web admins to check whether new links are discovered. Moz may find links slower than the Google Webmaster can.
Target #3: Increase DA By 25 in The Third Month
The best thing about Off-Page SEO is that it continues showing results. This means that if you have posted a guest post or did Off-Page SEO activity on SBM websites, they will keep giving you reshares and referral traffic.
You can see it like you sow a seed by doing off-page activities and getting fruits for life. However, you should remember that watering the plant is essential. If not done, it can cause those seeds not to grow.
Week #1 & Week #2
Initially, I had yet to invest even a single penny in SEO. But to boost my efforts, I decided to invest in paid backlinks. So, while working on everything, I made a strategic budget for buying Paid Backlinks.
I decided to buy links in installments to ensure that I get the maximum out of my investment. For example, I purchased one backlink every two days for two weeks. I invested, on average, $25 on each backlink. I maintain all quality backlinks. But most were from websites with a DA of more than 50.
Besides backlinking, I focused on Content Generation for Medium and my website. I was working on SBM and Quora simultaneously.
The results were quite satisfying. After Day 15th of the plan ended, I saw an increase in DA of 22. Per my analysis, the increase was paid links and the natural backlinking of my blogs.
Week #3 & Week #4
The goal was pretty close, but the thing about increasing DA is that it is based on log calculation. Increasing DA to 10 from 0 and then 30 from 20 is easy.
Following the previous week’s strategy, I decided to buy more backlinks. And this time, I considered investing more. But rather than purchasing just backlinks, I also decided to do paid guest posting. So, I connected with a few of my best bloggers and asked for paid guest posting. Paid guest posting helped me in getting my content posted on priority.
Getting a backlink from a high DA website may cost at least $50 — $100 (DA 60 — DA 70). This was a worthy investment. And apart from that, I invested an average of $30 in buying ten backlinks. Total investment was, this time, $300 + $500 (6 Paid Guest Posting) = $800.
The results were noticeable. The DA of my website updated to 26 after the end of the third month.
I saw even more of an increase in my backlinks & DA after a month because of the investments.
